College Football 27 Is Here — And the Realignment Chaos Just Got Real

EA Sports College Football 27 fully released today, July 9, on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and — for the first time in series history — PC via the EA app, Epic Games Store, and Steam. Early access started July 2 for MVP+ and EA Play members, with Deluxe and MVP Bundle owners getting in on July 6.
We covered the wave of 2026 conference realignment last week, and now it's not just a scouting exercise — it's live in the game you're about to spend the next six months inside.
What Realignment Actually Looks Like in Dynasty Mode
The Pac-12 rebuild, the Mountain West's five departures, and Conference USA's shrink to 10 members aren't abstract this time. They're the conference structure your Dynasty save starts with. A few things worth scouting before your first season:
- Recruiting boundaries have shifted — programs that lost or gained conference affiliation will see different regional recruiting pulls.
- Schedule strength changed — rebuilt conferences mean new rivalry games and different bowl-tie-in paths.
- Realignment isn't finished — treat this year's conference map as a snapshot, not a final answer. More movement is expected before 2027.
Why This Matters Beyond the Game
This is the same read we bring to everything at The Film Room Report: the game is downstream of the sport. Understanding why the conference map moved tells you more about a Dynasty save's difficulty curve than any player rating does.
We'll be tracking how the AI handles realignment-driven scheduling and recruiting as more people get hands-on time this week — drop your early findings in the comments.
